Courtesy Posting

We want to help families who need assistance with rehoming their dogs. Due to the small format of our rescue and focus on quality (instead of quantity) , we came up with a “courtesy post” program to increase our impact in the community.

Second Chance Ranch Rescue works with families to support the process of rehoming their dog(s) through a courtesy post process that covers these steps:

  • Screening process: our team meets with the owner and their dog to learn more about the dog’s personality , likes and dislikes and to capture photos. Information on the family and the dog is collected to facilitate the adoption process.

  • Assessment: we require that you bring your dog for an onsite assessment so we can meet the dog and confirm they are human friendly. During the visit we take pictures to help with posting your dog and have a conversation about what is necessary to facilitate the courtesy post adoption.

  • Fee: we require a $150 courtesy post fee is donated by each the owner and the adopter . 100% of funds help other rescue dogs in our non profit.

  • Vet records: a copy of your dogs vet records must be reviewed to ensure the dog is up-to-date on state-required vetting.

  • Photos: 10 diverse, flattering, personality packed images are collected to post on petfinder and social media. Ideally new pictures are obtained each week to help us show off the dog!

  • Petfinder and social media: we post a profile complete with a bio, likes, disklies, and pictures to Petfinder and social media with the hope to find the dog their perfect match!

  • Adoption processing: we review applications and screen interested applicants to find an adoptive family who is a match. We utilize our same processes and collaborate with all parties to ensure the best match for the dog.

  • Connect: we then connect the approved applicant with the family to discuss adoption and organize a meet. All meets happen onsite at the Ranch. Our team is there to support this meet, help you in making decisions and determining matches. It provides a safe, dog appropriate spot for families on neutral territory.

  • Finalize: we assist the family in independent adoption and provide adoption/integration guidelines. Adoptions through our courtesy process are independent and not made through SCRR. The adoptive family pays a $150 fee. The owner provides the adoptive family with vet records.

  • Follow through: it is critical that you are truly ready and able to accept the emotional step of giving your dog away. We need confirmation from you that you are truly ready to take this step before we list your dog, because once your dog is listed our non profit’s reputation is on the line and we do not want to upset people who want to adopt from us.

***We can not guarantee that courtesy posting will result in the adoption of your dog. To protect all parties, we require that all courtesy posted dogs are:

  • Human friendly

  • Local to NH

  • Highly social with dogs

  • Healthy and up to date on annual preventative vet care

***We tell all parties that we work with a limited number of “courtesy post dogs\families” at a time and rely on the information provided to our team. We can not guarantee the accuracy of the information and encourage all parties to ask lots of questions and host multiple public meets to ensure the dog is a match!
